The San Gabriel Mountains National Monument permanently protects 346,177 acres of Forest Service land in Southern California. The San Gabriel Mountains are within a 90-minute drive of 17 million people in the greater Los Angeles area, making it one of the most accessible monuments in the country. The monument protects 70 percent of Los Angeles County’s open space, and ensures that future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy its outdoor recreation amenities.
