The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s pre-eminent, national community-based voice for public wilderness protection. Since 1963 CPAWS has taken a lead role in establishing two-thirds of Canada’s protected wild space–an area over seven times the size of Nova Scotia. CPAWS vision is that at least one-half of Canada’s public lands, freshwater and ocean environments will remain permanently wild. CPAWS is a network of 13 chapters, 20,000 members, more than 50 staff and hundreds of committed volunteers, all dedicated to wilderness conservation and what it means for Canada.
