To complete the first (Ridge) phase of the Bald Mountain Pond Project, a land acquisition project totaling 1,495 acres. Acquisition of this land would permanently protect old growth (150 years old) spruce forest threatened by development, and preserve the scenic and wild acreage along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Maine.
