Since 1970, Southeast Alaska Conservation Council (SEACC) has worked throughout Southeast Alaska to permanently protect the wild heart of the Tongass National Forest, our planet’s largest intact temperate rainforest. We also support Southeast Alaska’s jobs and families that depend on Tongass fish, wildlife, and wild places and encourage human enjoyment and use of these wild places. SEACC has 15 member groups in 11 communities, stretching along the remote coast from Prince of Wales Island to Yakutat. Together with our allies—local communities, fishermen, Alaska Natives, tourism and recreation business owners, small-scale wood product manufacturers, and Alaskans and Americans from many walks of life—we’ve worked hard to protect important fish and wildlife habitat and reduce destructive clearcutting on the Tongass—our biggest, wettest, and wildest National Forest.
