The Trust for Public Land is a national nonprofit land conservation organization founded to acquire and protect land for public use. We believe that connecting people to land through parks, recreation areas, working land, and natural open spaces is key to livable communities, a healthy environment, and overall quality of life. The Trust for Public Land puts its expertise in law, finance, real estate, fundraising, government, and public relations to work to help communities protect the places that define and sustain their local character and way of life. Since 1972, we have protected more than 2.8 million acres across the nation, including 45,000 acres of wildlife habitat and recreational resources in Vermont.
Through the Campaign for the Northern Green Mountains, The Trust for Public Land is working with local Vermont communities and other partners to conserve and secure public access to 20,000 acres of forest habitat and recreational resources, such as the famed Long Trail.
