What You Need To Do

The Tongass National Forest is a world-class natural treasure and it belongs to all of us. It is one of the last forests of its kind that remains intact. The Tongass includes the world’s largest populations of bears and eagles, 4,500 salmon-filled streams and rivers, and some of the last remaining old-growth trees. It is up to us to safeguard this special place for the local communities that depend upon the forest and for future generations with smart action now.

U.S. Congress may soon combine a number of public land, water, and resource bills into one bill. This package of bills is designed to protect our nation’s natural history and resources.  There is one bill that does not meet this noble goal: the “Sealaska Corporation bill.” The “Sealaska bill” would give some of the best of the best of the Tongass to the Sealaska Corporation who has a long history of clear-cut logging. But, there’s still hope.

Please help us by emailing your Representative now  with a clear message: the “Sealaska bill” has no place in a public lands package.  Your email will remind him or her that all Americans care about our public lands in Alaska.
